Once again, here are our favorite movies of 2007, so far.  Since we all have such busy social lives, our goal has always been to see the year’s top movies (or at least those perceived as such by the critical community) by the time the Oscars roll around.  Meaning the lists below aren’t necessarily complete.  And we also haven’t seen all the same movies yet.  Meaning that too much analysis on our lists probably isn’t helpful.  It is interesting to note, though, that our tastes aren’t as different as we might like to think.  And that we seem to hold this year’s comedies (especially if you throw in dramedies)  in particularly high regard.

Brian:

(without seeing There Will be Blood or Charlie Wilson):

Superbad
The Savages
No Country for Old Men
Hairspray
A Mighty Heart

Bourne Ultimatum comes off the list, mostly because it was a lot of fun, but not as good as Bourne Supremacy. Also coming off the list, No End in Sight, because even though I’d like to throw a bone to documentaries, A Mighty Heart was documentary-esque and just as depressing about the prominence of terrorists in the world. Superbad over Knocked Up — based solely on laughs per minute. And The Savages was about as perfect a character dramedy could be.
